Royal Caribbean is going supersize on a round-the-world cruise for 2023, with an itinerary that may be the longest cruise in history, not counting voyages of exploration hundreds of years ago. Serenade of the Seas will sail from Miami on December 10, 2023 and won't be back until September 10, 2024.
That's about double the length of most round-the-world itineraries offered by RC and its competitors, and comes at a time when most of the super-long news is about cancelation due to Covid restrictions in ports, and postponements until 2023.
The 274-day or ten-month cruise will call at 150 ports in 65 countries on seven continents, including 57 ports that are new to Royal Caribbean. The company is calling it "the world cruise of world cruises."
At $61,000 for an interior cabin and prices starting at $80,000 for a balcony, it's definitely not a budget holiday. Still, for those not ready to go all the way, the company is offering four separately bookable segments: Miami to Los Angeles; Los Angeles to the Pacific with three continents and 40 ports; Middle East and the Mediterranean, three continents and 44 ports, starting in Dubai and the last segment, from the Mediterranean to the North Sea, North Atlantic and home.
