Disneyland looks to grow

Disneyland, the oldest and now smallest of the Disney theme parks, has started a planning process with the city of Anaheim, hoping to modify zoning and planning rules to let it grow without getting bigger.

DisneylandForward, as the company calls the project, would create new entertainment features, hotels and more on land Disney already owns but which is either not in use or in use for parking and other backstage uses. Disney has left the details vague, but indicated that it would expand both Disneyland and the adjacent Disney California Adventure Park.

While other Disney parks have added new theme areas based around current hot Disney properties including Frozen and the Star Wars franchise, the limited space in Anaheim has made that impossible. Disney hopes the planning process could be successful by sometime in 2023, allowing changes to start happening then.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
