Dinner at the Top in Sydney

Sky-high dining venues on super-tall buildings have been a thing for years, but Sydney, Australia is about to get a unique one: a 20-seat restaurant 87 metres above the harbor, nestled into the southeast pylon of the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

But signing up for the $295 dinner is a little more commitment than most high-up restaurants; this one has no elevator. Instead, the guests will be met by staff members of BridgeClimb, which operates walking/climbing tours of the bridge. The guide will give a quick tour of the bridge, including a 200-step stairway to the restaurant.

At the restaurant, to be operated by star chef Luke Mangan, guests will be seated at a common table for the three-course meal paired with local wines. Wine consumption will be limited for safety reasons. First dinner is November 17, and will operate Thursdays and Fridays through December 22. After a winter break, new dates will be set for 2023.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
