Dig World: DIY construction site for kids

How many times have you watched a skilled operator pushing a mound of dirt around with a bulldozer, or watched an excavator lifting huge loads off the ground? And thought, 'I wish I could do that?'

Dig World, which is billing itself as a 'construction-themed adventure park' is betting you have, and that your kids have, and that you and they are just waiting for the chance to get your hands on some big, and real, construction equipment. The park is opening this fall in Katy, Texas, right next to a huge outlet mall and across the way from a major waterpark.

You'd have to say it's a good bet to be popular, and not just because it promises "to create memorable experiences for families that last a lifetime as well as educate the next generation about construction and all the possibilities that surround that industry."

It's 3.5 acre site, including a playground, a gem-mining station and a turf field, also plans to host field trips, birthday parties and corporate outings. The company says it hopes to expand across the country over the next two years.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
