DC Trump hotel will be a Waldorf

Former President Donald Trump may have dreams of returning to Washington, but it won't be to the Trump International Hotel, which is in the process of being sold to a new owner who will operate it as a Waldorf Astoria, a Hilton brand.

The hotel, located in the landmarked Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue, between Capitol Hill and the White House, is being sold to a Miami-based investor group, and will be managed by Hilton Worldwide Holdings, which also operates the nearby Conrad Hotel. It has 263 rooms and is the second-tallest building in Washington, after the Washington Monument.

The sale of the lease on the building, which has about fifty years remaining, is subject to government approval because the building is owned by the Federal government. It has been busy but not a moneymaker, and the Trumps have been trying to sell it since 2019. Trump's ownership has been controversial because of possible conflicts of interest.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
