Cruise line return sails into sunset

While the CDC's no-sail order for cruise ships calling at U.S. ports expires on July 24, an industry association that represents nearly all the major companies has said the cruise lines will voluntarily extend the no-sail period to Sept. 15.

While some small-ship operators, who are not covered by the order, have begun operating, the lines operating in the larger sector are concerned about  how to ensure health and safety when thousands board its ships. The lack of complete answers, and the shortage of rapid-response tests has made them cautions, especially in the light of March's major missteps in the early days of the pandemic.

Among the steps the cruise operators are taking, some have banded together to fund major research into 'healthy-sail' procedures, including a joint effort by NCL and Royal Caribbean.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
