'Crazy Rider' lures Aussie daredevils

If roller-coasters and zip-lines are too tame for you, head for Sydney, Australia, where the Crazy Rider Xpress combines the two in one too-scary-for-the-rest-of-us ride.

At TreeTops Western Sydney, the new ride hits speeds of up to 50 km/h while whirling customers, strapped in harnesses, through a leafy forest, scarily close to trees and branches, according to one journalist who tried it. The 500-metre ride also includes sudden drops and 360° loops.

The ride, located in an area that also includes family picnic grounds, cricket fields and other more-sedate entertainment, claims to be the fastest zip line in the world. I won't be checking that claim any time soon!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
