Corona Beer gets its own fantasy island

The world is used to cruise lines having private islands for their ships to call at, giving their thousands of passengers a chance for a beach day that would likely be impossible for that many people in most ports. But now, Mexico's Corona beer is getting into the game with its own Corona Island, off the coast of Colombia.

But there's a difference: Corona wants to make clear its island is not a big party hotspot; they're calling it a 'natural island destination' and have hooked up with big-name designers and lifestyle people to create what they say will "help visitors disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with the natural world."

Corona says it's working with international NGOs such as the Blue Standard program to certify the project as 'Blue Verified' for its operations. Access to the island will be limited, with plans announced over the next few months, including opportunities to win all-expense paid trips to the island. With a twist of lime, of course.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
