Carnival gets tough on smoking violators

Carnival Cruise Line means it when they say 'No Smoking.'

The line bars smoking everywhere on its ships except in designated outdoor areas and in the casino, and it has posted new rules notifying violators that they will find a $500 charge per violation added to their onboard bills, and may be put off the ship at the next port with no refund and no help getting home. The company says it may also ban some violators from future cruises.

The smoking ban applies to all forms, including electronic cigarettes and marijuana (which is also not allowed in the smoking areas). Comments on the Cruise Critic's discussion of the rules are mixed, with some smokers upset, while others wish the ban were extended to the Casino.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
