Can you believe that no one ever noticed this?

Sometime around 12,000 years ago, this huge rock was left behind near Ljosland village in Norway's Vest-Agder region when a glacier melted. Just another item for the lost-and-found...except that it took nearly forever for it to be found.

Over a few more thousand years, most of the rubble beneath eroded, leaving the big rock balanced on three smaller ones. And then, over a few thousand more years, we have to assume,  thousands of humans wandered past, going from place to place, or just seeking a pleasant hike...and if any of them ever noticed it,  they told  no  one, wrote no notes, sent no postcards, and apparently took no pictures.

And then Mogens Eskesen, an anesthesiology nurse at a hospital in Kristiansand, Denmark, parked his car and went for a hike. Less than 15 minutes away, he came upon the rock, took a picture, and was stunned on his return to find that no one seemed to know about it. But now they do!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
