Birds of Berlin

 

Nearly everywhere I travel, I find the avian population dominated by pigeons, even in coastal towns where gulls find a home, too. But Berlin appears to be an exception. There are pigeons, but they don't dominate.

There were a lot of little fellows like those above, especially where outdoor food was available. At one point, I had several perched at the edge of my table, waiting to see if I was going to eat the whole meal.

In Friedrichshain Park, a pair of swans seemed disinclined to share their little island with a duck...

But not to say there were no pigeons. This one was standing guard on the roof of the Reichstag building.
