Beware of inflight pickpockets

Many people on a flight relax and pay less attention to their private belongs than they would when physically walking somewhere.  That's especially true for long flights, where people get engaged in the inflight entertainment, or take a nap.   A recent story outlines some of the risks with not being vigilent.

A passenger on a flight to New York from Los Angeles (where she'd appeared on the Judge Judy show) was arrested for stealing an iPad, passport and credit card in flight (the credit card had been tucked into her underwear).  If you would like to read more on this story, please go to this link on nbc news.

It's an important lesson for all travelers.  Be aware of your valuable possessions, especially your passport and money, and if you can't keep them safely on your person, at least keep them locked in your bag.

It may be an extreme example, but not paying attention can have serious consequences.  Some countries in the world will execute anyone bringing drugs into that country (e.g. Singapore, Taiwan).  Don't let someone who's nervous drop some dope into your carry-on while you're sleeping.  Keep it safely locked at all times.
