Berlin's new airport update: Only half the doors don't work

You just can't keep your eyes off disaster...especially when it keeps on as long as this. An update this week on the new Berlin-Brandenburg Airport reports progress: 51% of the fire safety doors now work.

And 49% don't.

But that's not too important at an airport that was supposed to open in 2011, has been under construction for a dozen years, and still has no definite opening date except "not this year, and not early next year."

The airport, which was supposed to replace all three of Berlin's previous airports, has been dogged by bad design, bad construction, accidents, corruption and even fires, delaying completion over and over as large parts have had to be torn down and rebuilt.
