Harvest time in Northern England arrives weeks before the Capital - London. Birds and squirrels will soon be looking for food to fatten themselves before Autumn takes a hold. Mr. Magpie will have a peck at anything and ruin fruit. And insects will soon plant their offspring into anything sweet. So we have to pick the fruits of our labours before anything gets at them. Raspberries, Gooseberries, Blackberries and now it's the Apples turn to come in from the garden. The Tomatoes are grown in the Greenhouse and often last until Christmas - when left on the plants. Can I smell an Apple Pie ?
