Aruba: 'leave emotional baggage behind'

In a move to get more visitors and to get more attention, the island of Aruba is running a promo offering $60 per person gift cards to cover the cost of baggage fees for inbound vacationers.

"We know travelers are eager to go on their next adventure, so we're inviting them to leave their emotional baggage behind and embark on a refreshing journey to Aruba," according to Ronella Croes, of the Aruba Tourism Authority. "We want visitors to enjoy the transformative experience that is The Aruba Effect and see how it can lift your mood while dropping your defenses."

The offer applies to itineraries made by May 31 for travel that must be completed by December 31. For unexplained reasons, the offer is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada with the exception of Alaska, Hawaii and Quebec.
