April 27, 2019: Pride of Spitalfields

In London's East End, here's a pub with two claims to fame, aside from its unusual and relatively new name.

Back in the 19th century, when it was new, it went by Romford Arms, and was the occasional hangout of two of the (many) suspects in the Jack the Ripper murders, James Hardiman and George Hutchinson.

More recently, under the name it acquired somewhere in the 1980s, it was honored as East End Pub of the Year for 2013 by the Campaign for Real Ale—and of that, it certainly has plenty!
