It seems as if nobody loves Narita, Tokyo's largest airport; every airline wants slots at the older Haneda, which is much closer to central Tokyo, and faster to travel. ANA, Japan's largest airline, is only one of several adding flights to Haneda.
For size and noise reasons, Haneda slots are limited, and airlines compete fiercely for them. In the past couple of years, American and Delta went to court over rights to slots and several other U.S. airlines have focused their efforts on getting Haneda slots.
ANA has now been granted 3 more daylight slots, and will use two of them to make Haneda connections for New York and Chicago, beginning October 30. It already has Haneda flights from Los Angeles, Vancouver and Honolulu.
