Allerton & McBryde Gardens, Kauai

Hawaii is a beautiful state, no more so than when viewing its botanical gardens.  The tropical plants are amazing, and the gardens contain many endangered native Hawaiian plants.

When we visited Kauai our day trip to the southern part of the island lasted until dusk, which is when we arrived at these two Gardens.  Things were beginning to close so we couldn't explore the Allerton or McBryde Gardens.  But we did have a chance to study part of them in the light of the setting sun.

These gardens are part of the network of National Tropical Botanical Gardens.  The Allerton Garden was developed by a sugar magnate who hired the Allertons to develop his garden in the 1930s.

The McBryde Garden is adjacent to Allerton Garden and covers 259 acres.

They look lovely and won't be missed the next time I'm on the Garden Island.
