Airlines investing big in airport lounges

In an effort to win those valued business and frequent flyer travelers, airlines have been upgrading their airport lounges.  Some of these are quite impressive, not only for the quality of the food they offer (including freshly cooked regional cuisine) but for their elegance in design.

Most people who use this website likely aren't business travelers, but sometimes you have the option to purchase a day's pass for a lounge.  It's worth considering, especially if you have time to kill waiting for a connecting flight.  Might be worth a small investment for a lot of comfort and a great meal.

Worth noting also that some of the high-bonus (and high annual fee for some) credit cards include varying forms of lounge access for cardholders, even when traveling in cattle class. I've got one now that provides Lounge Club, whose members are only occasionally airline-operated, and another that provides AA Admiral's Club. I'm looking forward to trying that one out!
