Air Maroc adds Africa to Oneworld

Royal Air Maroc, the first African-continent airline to join the Oneworld Alliance will become a member on March 31, giving Oneworld airlines, led by American and British Air, access to many locations in Africa served by the new member.

Most U.S. airlines have thin service to Africa, and mostly to the north. For American Airlines, this will give it access to even more African routes than are covered by its recent codeshare deal with RAM. The Moroccan airline serves over 100 cities in 49 countries; 34 of those in 21 countries are new to Oneworld, which will now serve 1069 airports in 178 countries.

Other U.S. airlines have also been looking at Africa; United has added seasonal service to Cape Town, South Africa, its first Africa route in a number of years. Detla has flights to Accra, Ghana, Dakar in Senegal, Lagos, Nigeria and Johannesburg, South Africa.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
