Air controllers strike Spain again today

Air traffic over Spain will be tangled today as air traffic controllers stage a 12-hour protest strike, the next installment of the long-running battle between Spain's air traffic controllers and Enaire, the public corporation that manages Spain's airspace. Some workers will remain on the job to fulfill legal minimums, but the effect will be serious.

The controllers are protesting sanctions imposed on Barcelona controllers for a 2010 strike. Those controllers were sanctioned for tying up over 200,000 passengers in protests over contract issues. Although labor courts have ruled that they did not abandon service in their strike, the company is still standing by the sanctions. The controllers already held several strikes this summer, and have scheduled another one-day strike for October 3.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
