Europe's two 'most-popular' capitals with American visitors are seeing a rise in bookings for this year, though not to 2015 levels, after taking a sharp drop in the wake of the November 2015 Paris terror incidents.
According to Allianz Global Assistance, the big travel-insurance operator, which keeps tabs because of its sales and inquiries, the two cities remain the most popular European destinations for Americans, followed by Rome, Athens, Barcelona, Dublin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Frankfurt and Venice. Stockholm, 19th on the list, is third in percentage growth over last year.
Allianz notes that there's been an uptick in buying of travel insurance, in part because it allows travelers to recoup the cost of cancellation if there's a terror event involving their destination within 30 days of travel.
