Eight more airlines have joined PreCheck, allowing its travelers who are enrolled in the program to move more quickly through security lines at over 200 U.S. airports.
The new carriers are Air Premia, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Transat, Bahamasair, BermudAir, Iberia, La Compagnie and New Pacific Airlines. Iberia is the major member of the new group, serving several destinations in Spain from nine U.S. airports coast-to-coast.
PreCheck, run by the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration, allows its members to use special lanes, and to avoid unpacking most items from their carry-on baggage for inspection. It also, in most places, avoids requirements to remove belts or shoes.
In addition to the U.S. airports where TSA is active, there is one overseas station, at Nassau, Bahamas, which also has pre-clearance for U.S.-bound passengers. Pre-clearance allows completion of all customs and border checks before boarding, but Nassau is the only TSA location among the pre-clearance cities.
