Belgian campaign wants water on tap

A Belgian group that wants restaurant diners to have the option of free tap water with their meals is pushing its campaign with an app that lists restaurants that offer more  than just "still or sparkling."

The aptly named ‘Free Tap Water in Belgian Restaurants’ group used Google Maps to construct its app, which will start with a list of 400 restaurants that offer the free option. It's designed to crash when users and others have added 20,000 restaurants; at that point, they say, it will no longer be needed.

The group, which believes many people in Belgium believe tap water is unhealthy, point to other European countries, such as France, where tap water is a right. They also point out that many chains, includiing McDonalds, offer free water in other European countries but not in Belgium.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
