Nov. 18, 2017: Dead Letter Office?

Well, not dead if you can use them; I spotted them offered for sale in Paris's Passage des Panoramas in the 2e Arrondissement. They're for sale in a store that advertises that it sells 'Objets du Monde,' and the interior backs that up!

The passage, visited last year in a blog by PortMoresby, is the oldest in the city, first opened in 1800. It's certainly had time to accumulate a lot of unusual items over that time; here are a couple more.

If you're wondering what panoramas the name refers to, look no further: When the passage was new, Robert Fulton was in Paris, trying to sell Napoleon and the Directory on his inventions: the steamboat, a submarine and a torpedo. While he waited, he took space in the passage to show (for a fee) his panoramic paintings of several cities.
