July 9, 2016: Greylag Geese of London

I'll admit to having an eye for birds, even though I'm no bird-watcher, at least in the sense of knowing about different species and types. And the birds I know best are the city birds: pigeons and seagulls, and sparrows.

So, when these greylag geese showed up during a morning walk along London's Regents Canal and posed and strutted and assumed funny positions, I not only had to take pictures, but also find out what they were.

My small research tells me that they are herbivores, like to live near rivers and lakes, and have recolonized Britain in the 20th century, after nearly disappearing.

DSC00009What they mostly are, though, is charming and attractive, and here they are.
