If you've too much money and not enough to do, OceanGate Expeditions is offering a submarine ride to the wreck of the Titanic, two-and-a-half miles below the surface of the Atlantic, 370 miles off Newfoundland.
But you'd better hurry, because two-thirds of the 54 available tickets have already been sold, at $125,000 a pop. There will be six trips, from May to September, with nine tickets on each. Passengers get a private cabin for the eight-day trip from Canada; each will also get a submarine trip to the wreck.
The descent to the wreck takes about 90 minutes. Once there, the sub will spend three hours examining the ship and also examining the sea life around the wreck. OceanGate originally planned the trips for 2018, but had to push them back to 2019, and then 2020. So...even if you snag one of the last tickets, it would be wise to have a Plan B vacation in mind.
