Belgium’s Royal Palace in Brussels, closed to visitors since 2022 for building repairs, is once again taking visitors on tours of its historic halls and lavish furniture—but it’s a limited run, only until August 16, shorter than previous summer seasons, due to preparations for a September visit by the Danish royal family.
Visitors can tour the King’s administrative residence and workplace, including reception rooms and historic salons used for official receptions and state events. Timed tickets are required; the palace is open daily except Mondays.
Four temporary exhibitions are featured during this season. Louise d’Orléans, Becoming Queen explores the life of Belgium’s first queen. Other displays are entitled Music, Sound & Imagination, Dream Machines, and The Royal Palace as a Palace of Memory. The imposing Royal Palace, like Buckingham Palace in London, is no longer regularly used as a residence; the royals live at the Palace of Laeken in a suburban area.
