
Praha = Prague = Fantastic!!! (part 1)
Prague (pronounced and spelled Praha on local maps) was a city I’d wanted to visit for almost 2 decades, ever since the Iron Curtain collapsed at the hands of the Velvet Revolution. Finally I was there.

Namche Bazaar is the main town of the Sherpa people, in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It’s located at 3400 m (11,300′) above sea level, built on the steep slopes of the hill you see in this photo.
The Yoho Valley is a beautiful glaciated valley, with remnant glaciers still rimming its rugged mountains. It’s filled with dozens of waterfalls, lush forests, and beautiful alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers in early summer.
Separated by a 2 1/2 hour drive, Prague and Krumlov have some things in common. Both are exceptionally well preserved historic sites spared the ravages of bombing in WWII. Like Prague, Krumlov is dominated by a large castle on a nearby hill.
During our visit to the Czech Republic we ventured on a day trip from our base in Prague east to Olomouc (pronounced OH-loh-moats). It was a nice change of pace and an enjoyable community.
An opportunity to see grey whales (and their calves) was one of the finest experiences of my life.
Cape Town is a special and beautiful place in large part because it’s framed by the bulky sandstone mass of Table Mountain. Table Mountain is a wilderness area set in an urban environment, a flat topped mountain frequently shrouded by a blanket of clouds resembling a tablecloth.
The Gulf of California, also known as the “Sea of Cortez”, is the body of water separating the Baja peninsula from Mexico’s mainland. It’s an ocean-side desert landscape which contains many small rocky islands with steep cliffs and lovely sandy beaches, surrounded by the rich blue and turquoise waters of the Gulf.
One of Europe’s smallest countries, it’s easy not to visit Luxembourg, neatly tucked in between the cultural and economic giants of Europe — France and Germany — and just west of its political capital in Belgium. But its a beautiful country and we really enjoyed our visit to the Grand Duchy.
