Just east of Wichita, is the small city of Augusta. In the fall, when the sunflowers start to bloom, there are two locations to celebrate the state flower.

Local Artist Diana Burress painted a silo with sunflowers and has a field filled with blooming sunflowers in late summer and early fall.

The day I visited, the flowers had just begun to bloom. Although the field wasn’t full of blossoms, the ones that were blooming were beautiful.

There is no fee to walk through the flowers located at 9251 SW 115th St and take photos. The sunflower silo mural is located on SW Thunder Road and is also free of charge.

Go, have fun, celebrate the changing of the season in Augusta.
