Airbnb, which has been adding numbers of new options to its vacation rental offerings, will now include trips, tours and more from TripAdvisor in its Experiences offering, starting later this year.
Experiences has, up to now, offered mainly tours, cultural experiences and events curated by Airbnb with local operators, but the TripAdvisor link will offer a much broader selection, drawn from around 425,000 offerings available through TripAdvisor’s Viator subsidiary. It could significantly grow non-rental bookings on Airbnb’s site.
Other added items through Airbnb over the past year have included links to rent cars, order groceries before arrival and to store luggage with storage chain Bounce. The hookup also gives Viator and TripAdvisor another broad distribution outlet not shared with its competitor, Get Your Guide.
