Act of Parliament Clock

At the Ship Inn, Mortlake, London. A 1797 law taxed clocks and watches; taverns added these clocks to save their patrons from having to get their own and pay tax. The law lasted 9 months. The sign next to the clock says “Enough history! Time for a pint!”
