AA in annual Stand Up to Cancer drive

American Airlines is teaming up with Stand Up to Cancer this month, for the 9th year in a row with promotion efforts and a fundraising campaign with an incentive for frequent fliers.

The campaign kicked off August 15th and runs through September 30. During that time, AA customers who donate $25 or more to Stand Up to Cancer will receive 25 miles per dollar contributed. Donations made using AA AAdvantage-branded MasterCards will get 50 miles per dollar.

“For nearly a decade, our collaboration with Stand Up To Cancer has reflected the heart of our mission to care for people on life’s journey,” said Ron DeFeo, American’s Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. “We are a company that deeply cares for our team members and our communities. This campaign is about more than miles. It’s about moving forward together toward a future where fewer lives are lost to cancer.”

Over the years, AA’s campaign efforts have raised over $28 million for the organization. Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) raises awareness and funds research to detect and treat cancers with the aspiration to cure all patients. It was initially launched as a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation in 2008.
