American Airlines’ app has just gotten a lot more useful for those moments when a flight is canceled or delayed.
New screens in the app show passengers rebooking in progress, allow some self-service, and where vouchers for ground transport, food or hotels are available, they appear directly in the app. The color-coded screens (pink for cancelation, blue for automatically re-booked, green for successful self-rebooking and orange for delays) have tabs to allow checking on baggage status as well.
The new screens will also show on AA’s website.
Heather Garboden, AA’s chief customer officer, told USA Today that “The benefit of the whole thing is everything in a simple hub. One centralized location so our customers don’t have to go all over the app to figure out: my flight’s delayed, now what’s happening to my bag? Where can I get my food voucher while I’m waiting for my flight? For those customers that don’t fly all the time, they don’t know what they should even be looking at, so it puts front and center what they should be looking at and need to be aware of when things don’t go as planned.”
