A Spice shop in the Marrakech Medina

Spice shops are quite common in Asian and some African countries.  Generally spices are sold in bulk, with the merchant weighing off as much as you want and charging you a reasonable and agreed to price for it.  Most such shops are chaotic and not all have the best hygiene.

You could purchase small packets of spices, have spices measured from sealed jars, or from open-air display baskets

This particular shop was located in Marrakech’s Medina, and was by far the nicest spice shop I’ve visited.  There were hundreds of items available for purchase, ranging from saffron to mint tea to hot peppers to potpourri.  Pretty much every spice your heart could desire. Some of the merchandise was prepackaged and ready for sale.  Much of it was in sealed jars (my preference as it keeps insects out), and of course there were a few bulk open-air items on display.

I’m sorry that I didn’t jot down the name of the establishment, but thought you would enjoy seeing its nice displays.
