Senior Sailor says…
There is so much to see in this world, and cruising can offer a myriad of destination opportunities.
One location I have on my radar is the Arctic. Several cruise lines offer this itinerary, including Viking Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Holland America Line.
I just learned about another cruise line that will debut a new itinerary: COMO Journey: Into the Arctic. An offshoot of COMO Hotels and Resorts, the cruise will set sail this summer.
This 11-day expedition offers the opportunity to encounter native wildlife and explore the pristine wilderness of the remote northern Svalbard Archipelago. The luxury cruise, which features breathtaking fjords and snow-covered islands, is in collaboration with Natural World Safaris’ award-winning expertise.
The cruise is designed to offer adventure, comfort, and COMO’s world-class culinary and wellness experiences with Natural World Safaris’ expert logistics and in-depth expertise.
Guides will take guests on encounters with nature, providing an experience in the Arctic’s frozen landscape. The journey includes off-ship zodiac safaris led by a team of expedition guides headed by specialist leader Andy Mann, an Emmy-nominated director, National Geographic photographer, and marine conservationist renowned for helping document our planet’s rapidly changing environment.
Land and sea safaris will be to search for iconic wildlife, including polar bears, walruses, and whales breaching through icy seas and spotting Arctic foxes and Svalbard reindeer.
Alongside the excursions, guides will share their knowledge through lectures, workshops, and discussions on photography, wildlife, sustainability, and the Arctic’s rich cultural and historical legacy.
Guests will arrive and experience their first night in the Norwegian town of Longyearbyen before boarding the M/S Polarfront. For ten days, guests will explore the archipelago. For more information and to explore the offerings in more detail, click here.
