When I first saw them as I entered their home, I thought they were paintings.

These photos were taken in Calgary, in the home of some dear friends. The couple I was visiting was from Iran, now permanently residing in Canada. They had brought these nicely framed works of art with them when they emigrated, which I was admiring. I truly thought they were oil paintings and was surprised to learn they were finely detailed Persian rugs. If you looked closely, you could see their weave.
The quality of the craftsmanship was truly amazing. But the delicious dinner I enjoyed that night was at least its equal.
