Mirror Lake, Perak, Malaysia

Not very far from where Gua Tempurung stands, in the town of Gopeng in the state of Perak, Malaysia, is the exquisitely beautiful ‘Mirror Lake’, aptly named after the crystal clear water that faithfully replicates the surrounding scenery.

Try and reach here early, as understandably enough, it gets quickly crowded with visitors seeking the perfect photo-ops.

It is perfectly okay to just amble around the water’s edge, or sit in introspection at one of the few quiet spots available, but if one wishes to go on one of the boat tours into the narrow inlets and tiny grottoes of the lake cum cave system, then it is crucial to reach early, or wait for hours till a spot can be found on the boat, though the nearby cafe makes the wait rather interesting!

Around the main entrance are smaller caves and a Chinese temple which adds to the charm.

Not particularly, but sightings are very common in this country, though most of them are non-poisonous tree snakes trying to find shelter in the urban chaos.
