Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Cruise brand will launch itself into the European river cruise market in 2027 with a fleet of ten ships it just ordered—but the itineraries are a bit of a mystery cruise.
In announcing the plan, along with its 2024 financial results, Royal Caribbean didn’t specify which European river or rivers its new boats will cruise, although tickets will go on sale later this year.
The cruise line says the river ships will match decor and luxury level with its Edge series of ocean cruise ships. The move is almost a reverse version of river cruise powerhouse Viking’s big jump into ocean cruising a decade ago.
