Today’s a day we remember those who paid the ultimate price to preserve our freedoms. It is Veteran’s Day in the USA, and Remembrance Day in Commonwealth countries.
Almost every city and most of the small towns I’ve visited have places that honor their fallen citizens. I thought the Regina War Memorial was very nicely done.
The Regina Memorial is situated on the grounds of the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. The memorial pays homage to people from the province who lost their lives in the two World Wars and the Korean War, as well as during peacetime training and operations. There is also a tribute to nurses who served during wartime, some of whom lost their lives.
The memorial was funded by government, businesses and private individuals — a real community effort.
