Brussels night train a big success

If you run it, they will ride. And sleep. 

The new night train between Brussels and Vienna, which just began its run last month with twice a week service will expand to three trains a week, and possibly more beyond that; so far, every train has been sold out.

The added trains will start by December, depending on equipment becoming available. Overnight trains and sleeper cars, which had appeared on the verge of extinction only five years ago, have been expanding rapidly since the Austrian rail carrier ÖBB made the shrewd decision to take over the service being cut by Germany’s DB.

Since then, a number of new lines have been added, fueled in part by a growing environmental movement that urges the public to avoid short-haul flights.
