Norwegian Air, one of the pioneers of discount trans-Atlantic flights and certainly the biggest of the group, is now calling itself the “world’s fastest-growing airline as it adds more U.S. cities and flights.
With Austin and Chicago being added next spring, and three smaller East Coast cities added last month, the airline is on the way to doubling its U.S. footprint in one year, from 8 to 15 destinations.
Bjorn Kos, Norwegian’s CEO, says that “We will now offer non-stop service from 15 U.S. cities to 13 European cities, no other airline can rival that.” The airline is also adding more flights and more European destinations to its existing U.S. bases.
Most other foreign airlines serving the U.S. serve fewer cities on the other side of the water non-stop from the U.S., although some, like British Airways, serve more U.S. cities.
