Have you noticed there’s never an empty middle seat anymore? Shouldn’t be surprising, it turns out, as the Department of Transporation reported that for 2013 the number of flights operated by U.S. airlines went DOWN by 1.5% while the number of passengers went UP by nearly 1%.
I’ve noticed: when we’re flying in a 3-across section, we always try for aisle and window, hoping the middle will be empty…but in the past couple of years it’s only worked once!
