Came across this classic convertible while traveling through the small town of Plains, Montana. Clearly a car that is still actively used.
It is a Pontiac Tempest Le Mans convertible, with white top and red lower body — a classic and popular color combination. Le Mans started as a sporty trim package (bucket seats, nicer interior) in 1962 and became its own series in 1963. Convertibles were relatively rare. The Tempest was Pontiac’s innovative compact (1961–1963) with a front-engine/rear-transaxle “rope-drive” setup.
These cars were the precursor to the highly popular GTO. You don’t see many around anymore.
