Star Alliance, with 28 airline members including United and Lufthansa, is getting ready to pool passenger data so that once you've filled out all the forms for one member airline, you'll never need to do it again.
Calling it a Digital Services Platform (after all, everything has to have name that sounds new and important), the alliance's data pool will better enable airlines to shift baggage between planes on itineraries that involve more than one airline, to coordinate ticketing and more.
For passengers, it should simplify seat selection, finding award flights, and filling in flight security information. The integration software for the DSP is being developed by Accenture.
