"Red Circuit" Bringing Chinese Tourists to Russia

Chinese tourists now visit Russia more than any other countries, up 10% in 2014. The reason say Russian tourist officials is that Chinese tourists are flocking to cities like Saint Petersburg to soak in the city's turbulent revolutionary history that ushered in the Soviet Union. To capitalize on this tourism, in July, Moscow and Beijing launched a "red circuit," a tourist route tracing the life of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin in four Russian cities.

 

The "red circuit" has a counterpart in China too, where Russians can retrace the life of Mao Zedong, first chairman of the Chinese Communist party.
