London gets floating hotel and jobs project

A floating hotel that's also a job training project will arrive soon in London from Amsterdam. After redecoration, it will open in September at the Newham Royal Docks.

The Good Hotel, with 144 rooms and a staff of 18, partners with local employers. A large portion of the staff are hired from people who have struggled to find long-term employment, and are hired for a 10-month stint working and learning. As each group graduates to jobs with the hotel's partners, a new group starts.

The hotel will remain in London for five years. It's run by the Good Hospitality Group, which will replace it in Amsterdam with a land-based hotel opening soon. The group's next plan is for Antigua, and is thinking of eight other locations where it could open hotels on a similar plan.
