Gumbo's Pic of the Day, January 3, 2015: Norfolk Broads

Broads1

A boat trip on the Norfolk Broads is one of the pleasures available for visitors to one of the world’s most idiosyncratic areas of wetlands and waterways.  The low-lying coastal lands of East Anglia, the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, were mined for centuries for peat, burned for heat.  The sea level rose, flooding the excavated pits and the lakes of the Broads were formed.  Connected by rivers, many are navigable and form a network for all sorts of recreational activities and wildlife.
