Copenhagen to host WorldPride Festival

It's not just the World Cup and the Olympics that get cities stirred up with bids to host the events. Copenhagen has just been named to host the 2021 10-day WorldPride Festival, and is hoping to also win the LGBTQ Eurogames event the same year.

Organizers expect up to a half million people to head for the city during the event, and has set aside a regional budget of about €13 million for planning ahead of the events. The contributions include funds from Copenhagen's sister city of Malmo, Sweden, to which it's linked by bridge and commuter rail.

It's also not the only 2021 win for Danish tourism: the west coast city of Esbjerg will play host to the World Darts Cup events.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
