Afloat with a Brewery

Here's a first, I think.  A floating brewery.  Carnival cruises plans to have a custom brewery -- to be called the Red Frog Pub and Brewery -- on its newest ocean liner, the Vista.  The Carnival Vista launches in May.

The operation will be in partnership with Miami-based Concrete Beach Brewery, itself owned by Sam Adams’ maker The Boston Beer Company.  Red Frog will be a fully operational brewery and will create three craft beers while cruising through the American and Caribbean waters.  The brews will include an IPA, a wheat ale and a stout.

Carnival already serves a variety of specialty craft beers, varying by the destinations of a ship's itinerary.  But creating unique beer aboard one its vessel is a new concept.  Will the brewery be a draw for new customers?  Only time will tell.
